M.C.Weeks, Inc. Historic Time Line

Malcolm C. Weeks, Founder of M.C. Weeks, Inc.

The M.C. Weeks, Inc. Story

The story of M.C. Weeks, Inc. began in 1946 when Malcolm C. Weeks opened his first factory. Like his grandfather Joseph Weeks, a successful business owner and also founder of the Keystone Automobile Club, known today as AAA, and like his father business owner and inventor, Malcolm had the drive and ambition to own and operate a business of his own creation.

Malcolm’s research to find a product that would always be in popular demand for every homeowner and a necessity for commercial buildings led him to the window treatment Industry. Malcolm knew that in order to provide the very best quality in craftsmanship, design and customer satisfaction he would need to be in control his own manufacturing. He purchased land in the little county town of Graterford, PA and converted a big old barn into his first manufacturing plant for the production of 2” wood and aluminum blinds. Due to high demand for his quality constructed “venetian blinds” and unsurpassed customer service, business quickly grew.

By 1950 M.C. Weeks, Inc. had moved to a new custom built state-of-the-art manufacturing and showroom facility in Collegeville, PA. Manufactured product lines now included the new modern aluminum vertical blinds, aluminum awnings, storm doors, and window and jalousie doors and windows. Within five years, the company opened four more factories in the towns of Reading, Allentown, York and in Wilmington, Delaware.
